Apr 22, 2019 Cedars-Sinai Staff
Meet Erica Evans-Johnson, management assistant in Performance Improvement at Cedars-Sinai!
She's part of an essential group of employees who keep things running smoothly through scheduling, budget planning, invoicing, and so much more. We asked this LA native to share some of her favorite spots and how she likes to spend her time outside of work.
How long have you been working at Cedars-Sinai?
Erica Evans-Johnson: I started here when I was 16 in the pilot class of the Youth Employment and Development program.
I worked here until I left for college at 18, and then I went on to pursue a career in sales and then real estate. After the housing bubble burst, I found my way back to Cedars-Sinai in 2008.
What does an average day look like in your job?
EEJ: Every morning, I come in and check my emails, which dictates what I need to focus on for that day.
I also work on any outstanding tasks that happen weekly or monthly, like calendaring, checking compliance requirements, updating personnel files and HR paperwork, budget planning, and mentoring other management assistants.
Where did you grow up?
EEJ: I was born and raised in Los Angeles, which is rare these days. I remember when there wasn't much traffic!
I grew up right around the corner in the Pico-La Cienega area and went to college nearby at Mount Saint Mary's University.
I've never lived anywhere other than Los Angeles, and I don't think I'd ever want to because all my friends and family are still here.
So you're an expert! What are some of your favorite LA spots?
EEJ: The Dime lounge on Fairfax. They play really good music!
And for food I love Javier's—I'm so happy they're in LA now! Crustaceans is also an all-time fav.

Tips for surviving LA traffic?
EEJ: I listen to R&B, MSNBC, or podcasts about politics or reality TV. I also listen to audiobooks—currently The Threat by Andrew McCabe.
What led you down your current path?
EEJ: My mom has been working here for 37 years. So I grew up at Cedars-Sinai—literally!
It's always felt like home to me. When the real estate bubble burst, I felt like this was the best place for me.
I've always been happy here, and I have a lot of friends here that I've met over the years, so naturally Cedars-Sinai was the first place I thought of.

I'm also still a realtor, so I spend some of my evenings and weekends at open houses, showings, and working on contracts.
What's your TV guilty pleasure?
EEJ: 90 Day Fiancé.
Best concert you've ever been to?
EEJ: Beyoncé at Coachella!
Life philosophy?
