Art is an expression of humanity’s ability to create and capture beauty. It is also, according to numerous studies, a powerful agent in promoting wellness and a critical tool for patients on their journey to health and healing. At Cedars-Sinai, patients, visitors and employees benefit from a prominently displayed world-class art collection, thanks to the philanthropic generosity of our incredible donors.

Those supporters include Bob and Faye Davidson. Chair of the Smithsonian American Art Museum Commission and an avid collector who possesses one of the country’s finest collections of African American art, Bob is also a life trustee of Cedars-Sinai and the first Black member of the medical center’s Advisory Council for the Arts. The Davidsons donated esteemed American artist Charles White’s seminal piece “Exodus II,” which is now part of Cedars-Sinai’s permanent collection.
“We believe art plays an important role in stimulating the body and the soul,” Bob Davidson said. “We are proud to partner with Cedars-Sinai to help our community appreciate great works of art and reap their many rewards.”
This year, art was top of mind at Cedars-Sinai as construction continued on the new Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. Plans call for the nine-story hospital fronting Lincoln Boulevard to mirror Cedars-Sinai’s main campus as a showcase for art that can uplift, educate and inspire. The goal is for the hospital to feature extraordinary pieces of powerful art that can move people and continue Cedars-Sinai’s tradition of making art available to diverse populations.
